The end of the line

Cover The Nesting Habits of Strange BirdsThis week my tour to promote The Nesting Habits of Strange Birds comes to an end. It’s been fun, and I’m so grateful to everyone who came out–chatted with me and commented on my posts–i appreciate every last one of you. *hugs*

My last guest post is up at Guys Like Romance, Too! and I’m giving away a signed paperback to a random commenter. If you’ve been curious but haven’t read it yet (or you just want a signed paperback to look at the gorgeous glossy cover IRL) head over–the odds are in your favor. (Seriously, they so are!) The contest is open through Friday–I’ll probably pick a winner after my pizza and movie night with the kiddo & her g/f.

If you’re on the fence, check out Jason’s review over at Joyfully Jay’s. He gave Nesting Habits 4.5 stars and said some amazing things about the book. I saw the review during my afternoon break today and there may’ve been tears involved.

I almost posted a line or two from the review, but it made me feel a little strange… so if you’re interested you can find it here.

Long weekend, here I come!

One more day until the party train takes me up to Seattle for GRNW! I’m looking forward to seeing friends and making new ones. It’ll be my first IRL event as an author, so that means I’ll have a lot of new folks to meet!

I won’t have a table at the book fair, but will be walking around with a bag full of giveaways… swag and books and some surprises.

Today, I’m visiting the very cool Grace R. Duncan at her blog, talking about photography and research. And, of course, there are birds involved!

Stop by Grace’s: http://www.grace-duncan.com/guest-author-charley-descoteaux-2/

Next week my tour for Nesting Habits will wrap up on Wednesday at Guys Like Romance, Too! Hope to see you there!

Where am I today?

NestingHabitsofStrangeBirds[The]_headerbannerPhysically, I’m probably at work, but I’m also visiting Charlie Cochet’s Purple Rose Tea House! I’m sharing an excerpt of The Nesting Habits of Strange Birds, and giving away an ebook from my backlist (because this gives me the chance to say “from my backlist” :)).

Comment here for an chance to win–I’ll choose the winner before I leave for GRNW on Friday morning!

And since I’m in a very shary mood, here’s a little beefcake–no comment required. 😉

A picture is worth a thousand words…

Nope, sorry, no nude dudes this time, just a (redacted) donation!

This donation is for 56 pre-orders (which is awesome!) and my $25 entry fee to the Rainbow Awards! I also paid the 2.something% credit card fee so The Trevor Project wouldn’t have to.

Thanks again to everyone who pre-ordered a copy of The Nesting Habits of Strange Birds, and everyone who spread the word! If I ever meet you (or see you again, if that applies :)) in person, remind me I owe you a hug. I’m a touchy-feely-hug-the-world type, though, so don’t say it if you don’t want that hug!

Release Day!

Cover The Nesting Habits of Strange BirdsI can’t believe it’s finally here!

Thanks to everyone who pre-ordered a copy! I’ll send a donation to The Trevor Project when I get home from work today, and let you-all know when it’s done. Thanks so much for your support, it means a lot to me and to the LGBTQ youth who depend on TTP to be there when they need a friend.

Over the past year I’ve worried a lot about how this book will be received, for many reasons, but now it’s all yours. I hope you enjoy my guys and their story.

In the next few weeks I’ll be visiting a few wonderful blogs, talking about the book and offering giveaways. Sometimes it’ll be a copy of the book, but I also have some fun bird-themed prezzies too. Catch me at one (or more!) of the stops below for more details.

A little sugar

gingerbread-cookie-in-the-shape-of-a-heart-with-yin-yang-symbol-913-824Hola, snippet lovers!

This is the last weekend before the release of The Nesting Habits of Strange Birds! It’s happening on Monday, which is coming up very fast. I’m so excited I don’t know whether to Snoopy-dance or toss my cookies.

Now that I’ve given you that lovely visual here are links to snippets that probably won’t make your stomach churn (caution: the snippets may, in fact, make your stomach clench and churn and feel all manner of things, because that’s what good writing does):  Seductive Studs & Sirens, Weekend Writing Warriors, and Snippet Sunday!

Speaking of cookies… this snippet is after Phil and Lee’s post-show coffee. Phil conveniently walked to the venue, and Lee, gentleman that he is, drove him home.

Lee pulled into the driveway behind Jerry’s car as far as he could—blocking the sidewalk but not sticking out into the street too much. The wipers sounded like a heartbeat as they worked to clear the light but steady rain from the windshield. Lee turned to Phil and was in the middle of a sentence when Phil leaned over the console and kissed him. Just a short kiss, warm and chocolatey. It wasn’t more than a few seconds before Phil pulled back, but when he did, Lee moaned and leaned forward to keep their lips together a second or two longer.

Maybe it’s not a good-bye kiss after all.

Phil trembled as he fumbled behind him for the door latch. He felt shaken under Lee’s stare, which he was pretty sure was worthy of the label lusty, but Lee leaned back against his seat right away, so maybe that wasn’t right.

Thanks for reading!

Fall into Love, and other cool stuff…

August and September will be busy around here, and I couldn’t be more excited. (Um, if excited means I think I’m going to hurl, then yeah, excited….)

Once I live through August it’s time for another TRR event—Fall into Love. Join us for fun and games and brace yourself for many, many additions to your TBR lists! Click on the graphic for more details.

Coming up this week, though, is a Book Blast for Shira Anthony’s new release. You won’t want to miss that, it comes with a cool announcement that includes one of my favorite f-words (no, not that one).

I should’ve announced this earlier, but I’m thrilled to be a Pride Promotions blogger! Pride Promotions handled my cover reveal event and it went so well, and Will was so amazing to work with, that I signed right up. I’m glad I did, because already I get to host amazing authors whose work I love.

9-w-cursive-300x300Okay, no more avoiding… Next Monday, August 11th—yep, in one week—The Nesting Habits of Strange Birds will be released. Hopefully I’ll be too busy to go crazy checking rankings and sales numbers, because that kind of obsessing is really no way to spend a special occasion.

Monday the 11th I’ll be hosting a Release Day Party on the DsP blog, and that Saturday, the 16th, you can find me on Dreamspinner’s Facebook page chatting there—hopefully not to myself (stay tuned for time info).

Throughout August and September I get to visit some of my favorite places. Here’s where I’ll be in August:

August 21, Joyfully Jay, where I’ll talk about my amazing cover art and share an exclusive excerpt.

August 23, I’ll be chatting at Goodreads! Last time a reader named the dog in The Nesting Habits of Strange Birds and this time I’ll need your silly/cult/fun movie suggestions for a WiP

August 26 I’m visiting The Novel Approach with a post about charities and an exclusive excerpt!

The release of The Nesting Habits of Strange Birds ends my charity drive for The Trevor Project, but that means there’s still a week left! I’ll donate $1 for every pre-order to The Trevor Project, along with my $25 entry fee for the Rainbow Awards. Click the banner below to visit the Dreamspinner store and get yours!

Smile when you say that…

Gold gay sex symbol linked with rainbow heart.

August 11th is almost here! Two snippets until The Nesting Habits of Strange Birds is released, and here’s one of them.

I don’t want to leave you guys in suspense—Phil goes to see Lee’s band play and afterward they go for coffee. They’re walking to stash Lee’s bass in his car; the first line is Lee’s.

“So, what’d you think of the music?”

Phil shivered with the effort to keep from laughing out loud. “It was horrible.”

Lee made a loud questioning sound and turned to walk sideways beside Phil. “You’d better be smiling when you say that.”

“Oh, I w-was.”

“It was pretty horrible, wasn’t it?” Lee sounded so proud.

Thanks for reading!

Don’t forget to check out all the amazing authors who participate in Seductive Studs & Sirens, Weekend Writing Warriors, and Snippet Sunday.

NestingHabitsofStrangeBirds[The]_headerbanner$1 for every pre-order of The Nesting Habits of Strange Birds will go to The Trevor Project, in support of their work protecting LGBTQ youth in crisis.
