“Love wins and heals for another couple in the Buchanan House family.” —Jessie G Books

Looking for a little angst in your M/M Holiday Romance? Then I’ve got just the story for you–and it’s $0.99 for a limited time!

Holiday Weekend, Buchanan House: Book Four

Ryan Orchard moved from small-town Idaho to Portland almost two years ago and still feels like a hick. When Paulie Nesbitt dumped him, he wasn’t even surprised. Despite losing twenty-five pounds since then, Ryan’s confidence is nonexistent and his life has stalled. Not only is he convinced the career he wants is beyond his reach, he’s given up on relationships. A new job at a familiar restaurant—and his gorgeous coworker—could be just what Ryan needs to believe in himself again.

Glenn Hernandez might be the only nineteen-year-old in Portland who dreads his days off. Between his horrible housing situation and the ever-present temptation to crawl back into the bottle, Glenn prefers to keep busy. He volunteers at the Elliott Foundation House, a homeless shelter helping LGBTQ sex workers. As an alum of the shelter, Glenn finds it hard to leave his past behind. But when the new server at the trendy restaurant where he works catches Glenn’s eye and works his way into his heart, Glenn finally has a reason to start a new life.

New Release (a little late!): A Buchanan House Love Stories Collection

Hello folx! I just realized I never announced the release of the Buchanan House boxset on my own website!

Release day was June 23rd, and the boxset is available on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited. The set includes the entire series plus a bonus epilogue written for the collection—3 novels, 2 novellas, and 2 short stories in all, over 1,600 pages of romance!

Except for a couple of shorts that are going to be freebies (read to the end to learn how you can get copies!), all of my former Dreamspinner titles have now been re-released. I’ve self-published them under my own label, CeeTwo Publishing. (If you see them out there under any other name, please give me a heads-up. <3)

To be honest, I never wanted to go indie. I would rather have found a new publisher. But, after six years of less-than-stellar experiences at every press I worked with, it will take a while to rebuild my trust in small presses. In the meantime, I’m working to recapture the love of writing for its own sake—and to find the courage to keep putting new stories out into the world. It’s not easy to do everything on my own—there’s always something besides writing that needs to be done, and I’m sure many things have fallen through the cracks. I appreciate the patience and support of my fans and fellow authors alike—you are the reason I’m trying to get new stories finished. You are the reason I keep showing up on social media, even when it’s difficult and feels like I’m typing in invisible ink or shouting into the void.

So, if you like beach reads, created families, and hard-earned happy endings, please give A Buchanan House Love Stories Collection a try!

The 4th Pride Month snippet (a little late)…

Hello Snippetteers & Happy Caturday!

I hope you’ve had a great week & your weekend is off to a good start (whether it’s a long one or not). Last week I’d planned to post my 4th Pride Month snippet, but the time got away from me while I was promoting the release of the Buchanan House boxset!

So, a week late but maybe more appropriate (see the end of this post for why that is :)), I give you a snip from Holiday Weekend! This is a little more than 6 sentences, but more than one is very short. 🙂

Nathan grinned. He’d been hesitant to close Buchanan House for Christmas weekend, but was glad they had. They seldom enjoyed the privacy to do whatever they wanted without the need to think about who was around or what chores awaited when they’d finished. Eric hadn’t given him much choice in the matter, though, and Nathan was prepared for a friendly “I told you so.” Or two. It wouldn’t be the first group wedding they’d held at the camp, but it would be the first with three couples from their family.

Colin Page, eighteen-year-old community college student, apple polisher, and all-around goody-goody, has a secret. He sees things that aren’t there. Unfortunately, the Doc Martens on the floor of the mail vestibule in his apartment building really are there and attached to a dead body. Hunkered over the body is someone Colin had barely noticed before, Private Investigator Al Green. Most people scare Colin, but for some reason, Al doesn’t, even after he reveals that he knows about the hidden reality of their world.

Alonzo Green, despite his low-power mind, is determined to help right the wrongs he unknowingly contributed to. He’s also hopelessly smitten. He knows it’s wrong—probably even dangerous—to enlist Colin’s help with the investigation. And that’s before considering all Al has to fear from Colin’s fiercely protective and powerful mother.

Colin and Al put some of the pieces together, but as soon as one thing becomes clear, the picture changes. The search for the Big Bad takes them from Portland to Tacoma and Seattle, and eventually to San Francisco, but their journey into each other’s arms is much shorter.

A holiday snippet…

Hello & welcome to my snippet! I’m tempted to share from one of my NaNo WIPs, but they both take place in the summer and it’s the holidays! Since I’m feeling the holiday spirit today, I’ll share a few lines from Holiday Weekend instead.

This is from Ryan’s POV. It’s Christmas Eve and a group from the Elliott Foundation House is spending the holiday at Buchanan House. Ryan and Glenn are there as volunteers. Ryan gave Glenn his Christmas gift a little early. The first dialogue is Glenn’s.

“If I get cold, I’ll just get closer to you. That’ll warm me up.” His smile stretched into a grin, and he held out his left hand. I let him help me up, but not before I took a good long look at the bracelet on his wrist. Perfect.

We went downstairs to find the tree mostly decorated but not finished. Almost everyone had red and swollen eyes, so maybe it didn’t matter that Glenn and I looked emotional.

Another inviting snippet…

Hello Snippetteers! It’s been getting chilly in my neighborhood this week–hope you’re staying warm!

This week’s snip picks up immediately where last week’s left off. You can find that one here.

We’re still in Ryan’s POV. He & Glenn are outside the restaurant where they work, & Glenn has just asked if Ryan wants to change his Halloween plans (from “nothing”). 😉

Glenn pushed off from the doorjamb and stepped out into the alley. “How do you feel about zombies?”

“What?” I laughed, and finally the tension I’d been holding on to since that night at Kel’s place broke. “Zombies?”

“Yeah. There’s a Zombie Walk, but first they’re going to dance in Pioneer Square.”

Oh, yeah. Glenn dancing is something I’m up for. Literally, it would seem.

An inviting snippet…

Hello Snippetteers! Today I’m feeling the season—I cleared all the dying plants from my deck & replaced them with some pretty chrysanthemums in purple and daisy-white!

In keeping with this Autumn kind of day, I’m snipping from Holiday Weekend. Over the next few weeks I’ll share Ryan & Glenn’s Halloween. This first bit is from Ryan’s POV, which is probably obvious. 😊

Two days before Halloween, Glenn cornered me in the alley at the end of our shift. I had taken out the trash, and when I turned to go inside, Glenn was leaning in the doorway.

“What are you doing for Halloween?”

Damn, even that sounded naughty. “Nothing.”

“You feel like changing those plans?”

A Christmasy snippet…

Hello Snippetteers! I’m late posting this week because of the holiday, and something I did to prep for it that made my right hand swell up Friday afternoon! Probably all the OT. I don’t regret it, but will be glad when both hands are the same size again!

Since it’s officially the Christmas season now I’m posting from Holiday Weekend, Buchanan House: Book Five. It’s a standalone novella but series readers will recognize the MC, Ryan. We’re in his head now.

The bar was decorated for Christmas, with lights and garlands everywhere. They even had a tree in the corner. It went beyond kitsch, but I wasn’t there for the decor. The tree was oddly fascinating, though. Green and gold lights twinkled bravely around the Timbers scarves, red plastic roses, and “No Pity” ornaments that looked handmade. Soccer really wasn’t my thing, but you can’t live in Portland and not recognize Timbers Army paraphernalia.

An unseasonable snippet…

Hello and Happy Pride! Welcome to my snippet!

This week’s is another house-centric teaser from the Buchanan House series. Book Five, Holiday Weekend, isn’t part of the main arc, it would’ve been a “.5” if TPTB allowed such a thing anymore. *lol*

This is from Ryan’s POV & he’s much younger than the other MCs in the series so he has a different perspective than they do. Paulie is the husband of the co-owner of Buchanan House, & Ryan’s ex. This is the first time they’re seeing each other since the breakup and it was a surprise on both sides (even though Ryan’s had a three-hour drive to get used to the idea :)).

It probably wasn’t a secret that I was uncomfortable even before I got off the bus. I really owed the kids who pulled me through the lobby. They didn’t know it, but they saved me from having to talk to Paulie. Of course I had to see him and his perfect husband almost before I’d even made it through the front door. They were in the lobby to greet everyone, all dressed up in red and white—for Christmas, sure, but do they have to match?—smiling like newlyweds or something. I figured Evan would have warned them, but Paulie still looked a little sucker punched.
