Book Blast & #Giveaway : Awakening by Megs Pritchard

Excerpt:

Tony woke up slowly and sluggishly. He moved slightly on the bed and tensed when his stomach reminded him of just how much he had drunk the night before. He groaned and repeatedly swallowed as saliva flooded his mouth. His stomach didn’t want the contents it contained and was attempting to eject them.

He ran his hands over the bedding and stopped. He rubbed his fingers over the material noticing the softness. His breath caught. It wasn’t his bedding, and now he was aware that the mattress was completely different to his too. He swallowed again but this time it wasn’t to stop himself from being sick.

He blinked his eyes a couple of times before he could open them and stared at the white ceiling above him, seeing it through gritty and filmy eyes. Yep, didn’t recognize it. His breathing started to quicken as he became fully aware that he was in a room he didn’t recognize. Refusing to give in to the panic that was starting to rise in him, he slowly and carefully turned his head to the side so he could look at the room. He grimaced and closed his eyes as his head pounded in protest, and he took another couple of deep breaths before he was ready to open them again.

Blue walls stared back at him. He glanced around the room, noticing the dark furniture. Walnut maybe? Closing his eyes again, he tried to recall if he knew who had a bedroom like this. No, couldn’t think of a single person. The furniture looked expensive, too expensive for any of his friends to have.

On his second look around the room, he started to notice the details he hadn’t picked up the first time he’d glanced at it. Pictures on the walls, a bookcase in the corner, dark blue curtains, clothing strewn across the floor, black bedding. Frowning he looked more closely at the clothing on the floor and recognized his own among the scattered items. Was he naked? Why hadn’t he been aware that he was naked in someone else’s bed?

Then he noticed the type of clothing. Jeans, a shirt and boxer briefs that were definitely not his. His heart rate increased, and a fine film of sweat broke out over his body. He scanned the room again, looking more closely at the pictures he could see. There were men and women in them but only one man appeared in all of the pictures. Fuck, he was in a man’s room. He was in a man’s room and naked in his bed.

He closed his eyes. What the hell was he doing in a man’s bed? What had happened? His brother might like cock, but he didn’t. Absolutely not. Opening his eyes, he lifted the sheets and looked down his body. A strange keening sound left his mouth as he saw the marks that travelled down his chest and abdomen. He dropped the sheets quickly hoping to erase the image of his body from his mind and tried to think about the night before.

What had he done? How much had he drunk? He couldn’t remember much after he had gone into the club with his brother and their friends. He had a vague memory of a woman in a skin tight dress and a man wearing a black shirt. He looked at the shirt on the floor. Shit, the shirt was black. Oh God, he was in the bedroom of the man from the club.

As he lay there, he became aware of another sound entering the room: the shower. The shower was running. That meant the man from the club was still here and virtually in the room. He had to get out before he finished in the bathroom. He couldn’t face him. What if he had fucked him? Oh fuck, what did he do? Why couldn’t he remember?

He rolled cautiously to his side and had to pause, rubbing his stomach as he attempted to settle it. He swallowed convulsively as he took deep breaths. God, he felt like a woman in labor with all the deep breathing he was doing. When he felt more in control, he gingerly sat up and then slumped over as his stomach heaved. He put his head between his knees again as he was forced to stop himself from being sick.

Squeezing his eyes shut, he wiped the sweat from his forehead with the back of his hand and shivered uncontrollably. Sinking gently to his knees, he crawled on the floor over to where his clothes were. He dressed as quickly as he could, which wasn’t quick at all, and as he was attempting to stand to find his shoes, he heard the shower switch off.

Book Blast & #Giveaway : Spanked in the Woodshed by Brina Brady!

Excerpt:

When Shane O’Rourke’s cell phone buzzed on the end table, he straightened up against the headboard in bed to read the message. There was no question as to who was messaging him at noon. Sure enough, Julien’s leather-clad picture wallpapered his screen. Shane’s stomach constricted and his clammy hands trembled. He inhaled a deep breath to center himself. Fuck no. Julien had told him that they couldn’t meet for lunch because of some business meeting with his partner, Adam. Shane didn’t have a clue what prompted him to check up on him.

Shane hadn’t attended school the entire week. He didn’t mention it to Julien, because he was supposed to attend all of his classes according to their agreement for tuition.

Julien: “Where are you?”

Shane: “UCLA.”

Julien: “Did you take a bus?”

Shane: “My motorcycle.” Why would he ask me if I took a bus? He knows I ride my bike. It doesn’t make any sense.

Three minutes later the bedroom door busted open. Julien stood in the doorway, arms folded and glared at him. Shane knew that particular look, and it never meant anything good on the horizon. He shouldn’t have lied to Julien. He always found out, one way or another. When would he learn from his past mistakes? His father had been right; he was nothing but a liar going straight to hell.

Book Blast & #Giveaway : Mantled in Mist: Soul Shares Book 6 by Rory Ni Coileain

RC

Excerpt:

The human’s laughter was completely unFae.

And it made everything perfect.

But then it faded. “Let me turn around.” Peri’s gaze dropped.

“Why do you —”

“Please.” He slid his legs off Fiachra’s shoulders, easing up onto his elbows. “Don’t treat me like something I’m not.”

Fiachra’s eyes narrowed. “Am I not allowed to treat you like a male whose smile I would give my left nut to see just because money changed hands?”

Peri stared.

“We agreed I’m not renting you, right? So I’ll do everything I can to make you pass out from pleasure if I fucking well feel like it.” Fiachra could feel his face flushing. Where is all of this coming from? Fae didn’t act like this. Didn’t feel like this.

Then he remembered Conall, looking at Josh. Cuinn and Rian, both of them Fae to the core, every breath either one took all wrapped up in the other.

Peri’s my SoulShare. Or I’m insane. And I don’t think I’m insane.

Meet the author:

Rory Ni Coileain has been writing almost as long as she’s been reading, and reading almost as long as she’s been talking. She majored in creative writing in college, back when Respectable Colleges didn’t offer such a major, so she designed it herself—being careful to ensure that she never had to take a class before nine in the morning or take a Hemingway survey course.

She graduated Phi Beta Kappa at the age of nineteen, sent off her first short story to an anthology being assembled by an author she idolized, received the kind of rejection letter that fuels decades of therapy, and found other things to do for the next thirty years or so, including nightclub singing, working as a volunteer lawyer for Gay Men’s Health Crisis, and studying ballet in New York City, until her stories grabbed her by the shirt collar and announced they were back.

Now she’s a legal editor, a soprano in her church choir and the St. Mark’s Cathedral Choral Society (unless they’re singing Mozart, because she’s decided that Mozart didn’t like second sopranos very much), the mother of a teenaged son and budding film-maker, and amanuensis to a host of Fae, Gille Dubh, and shapeshifters who are all anxious to tell their stories, and some of whom aren’t very good at waiting their turns.

Book Blast & #Giveaway : Of Gods and Monsters: Hades by Wulf Francu Godgluck

Excerpt:

“You are so young, child, and yet so wise to perceive life like this. But you also know what this can mean for you.” Her gaze narrowed, gone was the soft expression, now overcome with a look of solemnity. “Life isn’t about second chances or missed opportunities. You make do with what you have, and if you want to better yourself and rise from your surroundings, you tear at your opportunity with everything you have, because there will always, always be others fighting as hard for it as you.”

And there would be. Ritzenthaler was one, if not the best choreographer in the world. Candidates would flood from all corners of the country to New York to get a shot at a part. If Rex could secure a spot, it would give him his first break, fulfilling his dream of becoming a danseur principal.

Mistress Olga folded her arms across her chest. “I have faith in you, Rex, and I know you can do this. Yes, your talent is raw, but for this particular ballet, for the role of Lucifer, this is exactly what Léonce is looking for.”

They were momentarily silenced by the sound of the dancers letting themselves out of the studio, the chatter of voices muting as they wound down the stairs.

“Ritzenthaler is a good friend of mine, and he is going to be keeping an eye out for you, so…” She licked her lips and fixed him to the spot with a hard gaze. “Don’t fuck it up.”

Yes, Mamma Ru. Rex doubted if Mistress Olga would even catch the reference. He nodded, keeping his thoughts to himself as he left the office.

Meet the author:

They come to me in the night, creeping into my head. Their voices are all different, their stories all dissimilar, but they keep saying the same thing…

“Show us, tell us, bring us into your world, and make us known.”

Then I sit and they take over. They tell their tales of love, loss and sinister misfortune. Not all of them get a happy ending, but they are pleased when their part is written.

I sometimes find myself lost in my own mind; a world very similar to our own yet so different. Things don’t go bump in the night— they squeal and crawl under your skin, making you grind your teeth, and making your stomach turn over and putting your nerves on edge. Then there’s the drama. Oh, the drama!

Wulf Francú Godgluck hails from South Africa. His work is not for the faint-hearted! In his books you’ll find… all the beasties with their nasty claws and teeth, and some you didn’t even know existed.

But the monsters aren’t all real. Some live inside us. Who knows what he will make you discover about yourself, lurking in your heart, behind the closed walls in the deep, black recesses where no light penetrates? Wulf will steal your heart and never give it back. More than likely, he’ll pin it to the wall with a bobbypin and sit there sipping his tea while you writhe and squeal on the floor…

Book Blast and #Giveaway: Another Creature by Valerie Brundage

RCExcerpt:

Instantly Karen suspected something was amiss. The heat and the beads of sweat around Luanne’s cheeks, the wet on her neck below her ears. All betrayed Luanne’s discomfiture.

Karen walked around. Looked around.

“Can I…?” She headed towards the kitchen. Luanne heard her stir the coffee, clink a cup on the counter.

“Coffee?” Sugar spoon. Fridge door. Luanne leaned over and glanced at Karen in time to see her finish pouring milk. Return to the fridge, clink, clink.

Every sound had texture. Luanne looked around, could not see.

A wisp, a black shadow. The trail of a memory like a dream receding even as she tried to grab onto it, make it tangible.

Karen returned to the room, her hand empty. Luanne felt drunk. She thought of asking, “Where’s your drink?” but decided the words would come out slurred and Karen would know, so she said nothing.

She wasn’t even entirely sure how long Karen had been there. She half-entertained the idea that it had been Karen all along, in her half-asleep hallucination. But the sticky residue of the Melusine’s caresses still stuck along her thigh, along the sides of her breasts.

She covered herself up as best she could without doing the buttons again. Didn’t want to appear too modest. A lost cause.

But Karen liked her like this. A little off balance. It reminded her of the times when they would get together in a moment, never with the intention of fucking each other. Never for a drink, never just for dinner. It was always a kind of girls night out when other plans had fallen through. Casual in which no agenda opened up possibilities and slowed time.

A couple too many glasses of wine, watching TV late into the night. And they would end up in their pajamas and one would put their lips on the other’s back. At the shoulder, where the skin showed, just a little loose. Then a shirt would open, and fingers would slide down to nipples. And then slide down further, down each other’s backs. Then into the crease of each other.

No words. Drunk. Give me another drink. She was not sure she told herself she was not sure and she continued.

“Are you all right?” Luanne walked to the bedroom. The windows at the floor were open, lower casement stuck out erect. It wasn’t cool, but humid.

Karen didn’t see anyone else around. Luanne said nothing.

“Have you been – touching yourself?”

Karen stood, her hand on the sill by her head. Waiting. She’d wait forever but she knew Luanne wouldn’t let her. Luanne walked to her and kissed her.

Her lips were cool. Dry. She pushed them closer, mashing her face passionately with Karen’s.

Karen leaned back, let Luanne maul her. “Thank you. I thought…”

“Shh.” Karen was a vacuum which Luanne couldn’t help but fill.

She was taken over. Still not sure what was happening. A dream, a fainting in which she’d been overtaken by her sexual urges – her blood rushed from her head and became lightheaded as Luanne tasted her.

Today, I’m hosting J.E. & M. Keep, author of dark, fantasy erotica and romance.

What appeals to you the most about writing romance/erotica?

My partner and I have always been drawn to writing erotic scenes. We met initially online, and got in the habit of sending titillating, handwritten stories and dirty letters through the mail. Online we took to doing some roleplay.

With romance and erotic stories in novels, however we couldn’t really find the niche we wanted. We love epic fantasies, and sprawling worlds like that of the lore of Forgotten Realms and World of Warcraft, or sci-fi like that of Dune and Star Wars but were always disappointed by the treatment – or the lack of treatment – of sex.

They always faded to black, and we wanted to know what happened, so we decided to write it. We get to read – in agonizing, gory detail – every millisecond of a fight scene, but the lovemaking is considered gratuitous and extraneous. We’ve been writing fiction for a decade now, and almost all of it has erotic passages, if not an erotic focus.

What is the most interesting thing you have learned from your research?

We’re actually in the process of editing our noir erotica, and that was probably the most interesting to research as it’s set in the 1920’s. We had to do a lot of research into the customs and traditions of the time so we could portray a New England, upperclass woman attending university. Specifically, she was studying the ways of Freud, and delved into the Electra concept quite a bit. It was absolutely fascinating to read about all of the women involved in psychology back in the 20s and 30s.

Is there any topic you find taboo?

There’s plenty we find taboo, but that only means we like it more. We write a lot of taboo themes like incest and reluctance, and very rarely do we shy away from a topic. We write what we enjoy and we enjoy writing stories that place characters in awkward and inappropriately erotic scenarios. Context is everything, and we adore the contextually taboo.

How do you come up with your book titles?

Usually we’ll bounce ideas off one another until something sticks. Our best titles are ones that we’ve come up with together, like our upcoming “The Warlord’s Concubine.” It perfectly captures the themes – the woman is a devotee and a willing slave to the Warlord, but she’s the focus of the story. It’s about her, but she is defined by being his.

That one was a relatively easy title. Some we end up tossing around ideas for days on end without resolution until we have an epiphany or just twist around a title-in-progress until it gets the right vibe for us. “Brought the Stars to You” was one we kicked around for weeks before we got it right. It’s a slight twist on a line from an important scene in that sci fi romance that encapsulates the story well.

If you had to include a soundtrack with one of your books, give us the book title and three tracks that would be on that soundtrack?

I’d probably go with Tiffany – a Naughty School Girl Series, because it’s definitely the easiest. It’s a tale, to be polite, of a young woman’s sexual awakening at the hands of her teacher, and how it’s soon twisted and exploited by the men in her life, much to her delight. “Pull Your Hair – Yin Yang Twins”, “Closer – Nine Inch Nails”, “Bad, Bad Thing – Jace Everett”. She’s a bad girl, and she likes it rough. And often.

Do you have any special writing rituals?

We write using Google Drive, working together as a team! Other than that, my partner tends to write up a plan for whatever story we’re going to work on ahead of time, then once we’re sat down to begin we kind of passoff back and forth depending on the nature of the work until completion. When he’s checking over my work and adding to it, I tend to work on things like our covers, and when I’m checking over his he tends to do things like play video games or read articles to spur his creativity. The end ritual, however, is always sex of some sort. Also sometimes a midway ritual.

If you could meet any of your characters in real life, who would it be any why?

I think I’d be terrified to meet most of them, honestly! To me, they all seem so much bigger than life. That being said, I personally wouldn’t mind having a run-in with Tiffany’s Teacher. He’s a bit rough, and controlling, and dominant… I’m sorry, where was I? My partner would probably say Velen, of “Hot Desert Daze”. He’s got a thing for devious but pleasing pretty boys, though he’s never had luck finding one.

What’s the one thing readers can always count on when they pick up a book written by you?

It’s not going to be traditional. No matter what genre we write, it’s probably going to be a bit dark and twisted, even if it seems light hearted. We write a lot of messy, screwed up romances, and a lot of really dangerous relationships that just work for the people involved despite the flaws.

Also, you can definitely count on there being more in the subtext or hidden away that we didn’t cover in the story itself that is somehow even more fucked up and taboo. My partner has a devious mind when it comes to intricate plot webs, and there’s always more there than finally makes it into the story, even in our more porn-y titles.

What’s one time and/or place (past, present, or future) that you’re dying to write about? Why?

We have really been hankering to write a story about a vampire couple through the ages, following them through the biggest revolutions of the last few centuries, like the French and Russian revolutions where women played a large role. My partner was a Historian before taking up the torch of our writing full time, but it will still require a lot of work and research. It’s something we really want to do well.

If you could be any mythical/fantasy creature what would you be and why?

I know it’s probably pretty cliché, but I’d like to be an elf. Agile, beautiful, graceful, eternal. I’m really drawn to them.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

Hm. We started one story that we haven’t finished, and the female character had absolute control over her body and muscles. She could mimic any motion just by watching it, and was stronger and faster than anyone should be. I think that’d be pretty awesome.

If you were a porn star, what would your porn name be?

Who says I’m not already? 😉

If you came with a warning label, what would it say?

“Caution: Looks are deceiving.”

Is there anything else you would like to say to our readers?

Thanks everyone for reading! We don’t write much GLBTQ stuff, unfortunately, just a few freebies on our site and the one published male-on-male work solo-written by my partner, “Hot Desert Daze”, but if you enjoy straight stuff once in a while, check us out! ❤

Thank you for visiting this stop on the Absolutely Erotic Blog Hop! Please be sure to visit J.E. & M. Keep’s blog tomorrow to read an interview with M.C. Hana and comment for more chances to win the grand prize!

J.E. and M. Keep love dirty, filthy, smutty erotica. They explore the most sexual, titillating and sometimes terrifying encounters. The plots are contemporary, fantasy, or science fiction, but they all have one thing in common: They’re hot. From dark and taboo smut to coming of ages lust, from twisted love stories to tragic tales of self destructive needs, they explore the fact that not all Ever Afters are happy, and not everyone’s idea of happy is the same.

Guest Author: Faith Ashlin!

Today I’m pleased to host author Faith Ashlin, my first guest!  She’ll be talking about her WWII M/M Romance Pathfinder, and a little about herself as well.  Her links are included below and on my Links page so you can get to know Faith a little better at her blog or on Twitter!

Now, without further ado, I give you the lovely Faith Ashlin!

Thank you to the wonderful Charley Descoteaux for inviting me on her blog. As someone new to publishing it really is appreciated.

Hello, I’m Faith Ashlin, and my first book was released on September 22, 2012. Pathfinder is the combination of two of my great passions:  beautiful young men falling in love and World War 2 planes. An odd combination maybe, but falling in love against a background of war has to be a wonderful thing.

Here’s the blurb

The story of two American airmen who join the Royal Air Force towards the start of WW2, before America enters the war. Both accept that they are gay but Bobby, the navigator, has put any thoughts of love to one side because he passionately believes in the war. Things change with the arrival of his new pilot, Lewis. Lewis believes in the war but also loves the new plane.

They connect immediately and start a sexual relationship, but know they have to be extremely careful. During many dangerous raids their bond gets stronger until Lewis pushes Bobby to admit they are in love. Then the worst happens and Lewis is badly wounded. He wants Bobby to stop flying while he recovers, because he believes they are a ‘lucky pairing’ who stay safe because they fly together.

Bobby won’t stop and goes on to be Squadron Leader, while Lewis heals. Eventually they come back together as part of the new Pathfinders. During an emotionally charged night in bed they resolve the issues of Bobby continuing to fly, plan a possible future and admit the depth of their feelings for each other.

Excerpt from Pathfinder

Bobby’s eyes wandered over the Mosquito again. Not a huge plane, not like the bombers, and without the glamour of a Spitfire, but none the less impressive. A beautiful plane, freshly painted in a patchwork of brown and green, one that stood proud, nose held high. Her wings swept out gracefully, with two big propellers ready for action and the glass canopy that would protect her crew of two just visible. His mouth watered at the possibilities.

He was still there, still looking, twenty minutes later when he heard the sound of feet and turned to meet his new pilot. Another big man, his dark blue-gray RAF uniform fitting snugly across his broad shoulders. His cap was pushed firmly onto thick dirty-blond hair, over a wide smile and brown eyes. He was tall… really, really tall.

“Hi.” A big hand was thrust in Bobby’s direction. “Pilot Officer Lewis Winters, you must be Flight Lieutenant Davenport, my navigator.”

“Yeah, but…” Suddenly, there were a lot of thoughts whirring around in Bobby’s head. He’d deal with the most important first. “Can you actually fit inside a cockpit? Will there be room for me?”

Lewis threw his head back as he barked out a laugh, the sound catching Bobby off guard. There hadn’t been much laughter around him since… for a long time. “It’s a bit of pinch but, don’t worry, I’ve had a lot of practice. I won’t squash you.” Lewis’s eyes made a swift journey up Bobby’s body, lingering on his face. “Unless you want me to.”

So it was like that, was it?

Pathfinder is available now with Silver Publishing. You can buy it here.

My bio

When Faith was clearing out her attic many years ago, she found a book she’d written as a ten-year old. On rereading it she realized that it was the love story of two boys. Over the years her fascination with the image of beautiful young men, coiled together as they fell head over heels in love, became a passion for her.

Since that first innocent book – written in purple sparkly pen – she has written many stories, set in varied worlds but always with two men finding their way to happiness.

Nothing much has changed because now she can be found in a daydream, wandering around the supermarkets of London, or sitting in a meeting at work still dreaming up stories.
