Out of context…

poker5-01-111413-2065Hola Snippetteers!

Finally, a weekend in which I’m not so busy there’s no time for snippets!

Here’s a bit from The Pinch of the Game. If you like it, you can read the whole thing starting Wednesday!

Incidentally, that’s also when you can get context for this snippet. 😉

“You don’t have to—”

“There’s a lot I have to do. And the first thing is to get you out of these.” He fumbled with the first button on my shirt, but made quick work of the rest. He sighed, a soft rush of air across my chest. It could’ve been intentional, or maybe not, but that sigh suspended time for a few beats. Or maybe that was my imagination, because the sensation only lasted seconds, and then we were both pushing off our clothes, kicking shoes across the room, and stumbling over each other to the bed.

Thanks for reading!

Okay, now it’s time to visit more snippets. If you didn’t come from there (or even if you did :)), check out the Snippet Sunday group on Facebook. Have a lovely Sunday!

Anniversary Week!

PinchOfTheGame[The]_bookmarkV_DSPThis week is my 2nd anniversary as a Dreamspinner Press author! I’ve been writing and publishing since the mid-1990s, but my LGBTQ+ titles hold a special place in my heart. If I could hug everyone who’s ever bought one of my stories, i would. Since that’s not practical i’ve arranged a little celebration instead–30% off every backlist title June 21-28!

Books in the sale are listed here.

The Pinch of the Game releases next Wednesday, Jun 24, which happens to be two days before the date in 2013 when DsP released Directing Traffic.

June 24 is also the day my excerpt tour for Pinch kicks off. Every stop will include an exclusive excerpt, and chances to win a $10 gift card + a backlist book of your choice. Hope to see you there!

My Sexy Saturday!

I’ve been meaning to join in the fun at My Sexy Saturday for a while, and i finally remembered to sign up before the linky list closed. 🙂

Here are 7 paragraphs from my upcoming release The Pinch of the Game. Pinch just hit the Coming Soon page at Dreamspinner (click the cover for more info).

tpotg3If Sal had sent someone after me, a short trip up to Seattle might be a good idea, maybe even BC. That called for some new clothes, so I grabbed my battered gym bag—my quick escape kit—and was almost home free when the kitchen door burst open. It would’ve been dumb to turn off the light when the goomba first went to work on the lock—I can’t see any better in the dark than your average Daisy, not when I’m blocked. Once that massive body filled the doorway, I wished I had. Wished I’d done something.

He hesitated, barely a moment, and I bolted for the front door. He grabbed me before I made it out of the kitchen and pinned both of my arms to my sides. It wouldn’t work, I knew that, but I still tried to burn his hands. All I needed was enough time to—fuck, is he laughing?

“Give it up, pretty boy. You’re blocked.”

The big man pushed me against the wall face-first and pulled both hands behind my back.

“Hey, wait a sec, big guy. Let’s talk about this. I can—”

He pushed me flat against the wall, and the rest of that sentence disappeared in the rush of air he squeezed from my lungs. I couldn’t help being turned on, even though pain and domination usually aren’t my thing. Neither are bears, but underneath the padding he felt nice and solid, leaning full against me. He tightened a plastic zip tie around my wrists with shaking hands. And then he held me there.

“You done? Because this ain’t a negotiation. I gotta bring you back to Sal.”

The color of happiness…

Hiya! I’m glad you survived Valentine’s Day. Don’t forget to celebrate Half Price Chocolate Day today!

If you’re here for The Power of Love Blog Hop, click here to get to my post. You could stick around for the snippet first. If you want to.

This is another snippet from the paranormal—which I found out this week should be called a Contemporary Paranormal. Those are different from Urban Fantasy because in CP the paranormal element isn’t common knowledge.

The Color Story is told in three parts; so far all the excerpts have been from Part One, which is solely from Colin’s POV. This is from Part Two, and that’s all Alonzo’s. (In case you’re wondering, in Part Three they have to take turns.) Let me know what you think (taking into account the creative punctuation to keep it to 8 sentences and the fact it’s unedited, like last week’s).

Setup: Colin just finished his last Final Exam and Alonzo surprised him with a road trip. They’re in the car, each turning the radio to the station the other likes best. The first line is Alonzo’s.

“How long does it take to get there?”

Colin twisted to face him and Alonzo watched as he took a moment to picture him naked. “You drive like an old lady, so at least two hours.”

“How long did it take you?”

Colin squeezed his thigh and laughed. “About two hours.” He punched the radio button closest to Alonzo and the car filled up with Rick Derringer screaming about getting head.

“Lordy mama—seriously?”

“It was a simpler time.”

Colin threw his head back and laughed, long and loud, “Can’t argue that.”

Yeah, no big plot points there, sorry. But it’s still a work in progress. I’m giving myself to the end of March to whip it into shape. 😀
