New Release (a little late!): A Buchanan House Love Stories Collection

Hello folx! I just realized I never announced the release of the Buchanan House boxset on my own website!

Release day was June 23rd, and the boxset is available on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited. The set includes the entire series plus a bonus epilogue written for the collection—3 novels, 2 novellas, and 2 short stories in all, over 1,600 pages of romance!

Except for a couple of shorts that are going to be freebies (read to the end to learn how you can get copies!), all of my former Dreamspinner titles have now been re-released. I’ve self-published them under my own label, CeeTwo Publishing. (If you see them out there under any other name, please give me a heads-up. <3)

To be honest, I never wanted to go indie. I would rather have found a new publisher. But, after six years of less-than-stellar experiences at every press I worked with, it will take a while to rebuild my trust in small presses. In the meantime, I’m working to recapture the love of writing for its own sake—and to find the courage to keep putting new stories out into the world. It’s not easy to do everything on my own—there’s always something besides writing that needs to be done, and I’m sure many things have fallen through the cracks. I appreciate the patience and support of my fans and fellow authors alike—you are the reason I’m trying to get new stories finished. You are the reason I keep showing up on social media, even when it’s difficult and feels like I’m typing in invisible ink or shouting into the void.

So, if you like beach reads, created families, and hard-earned happy endings, please give A Buchanan House Love Stories Collection a try!

The 2nd Pride Month snippet…

Hello Snippetters & Happy Pride Month!

I hope you’re staying safe and healthy while you celebrate!

My snip this weekend is from book 1.5 in the Buchanan House series—Pride Weekend! The boxset will be available on pre-order on Tuesday (fingers crossed Amazon cooperates!) at a special sale price, & available to read on 6/23!

For now, here’s a snip from the beginning of pride weekend on the central Oregon coast. Our hero, Adam, has just arrived at Buchanan House.

I was warming to the whole plan even before the most gorgeous man I’d ever seen glided up to me and smiled as he looked me over. Compared to everyone else in view, I was seriously overdressed in my khakis and salmon polo.

“Hello, sweetheart,” he said and extended a hand. His grip was surprisingly firm for a man wearing purple pants, a pink feather boa, and nothing else. “I’m Nathan Lucas, your hostess with the mostest. And who might you be?”

Thanks for reading!

Buchanan House

Eric Allen and his bestie buy a neglected hotel on the scenic Oregon coast to fulfill their middle-school dreams of co-owning a B&B. The building is in decent shape but in order to turn Buchanan House into the gay resort of their dreams, it’s going to need work.

Tim Tate is a skilled carpenter with many hidden talents, and a body that could grace the pages of a fitness magazine. When he and Eric meet, it’s mutual lust at first sight. Despite the intense attraction, both men are hesitant to fully out themselves by acting on it. But when they give in, it’s obvious that they’ve found something special—and not only in bed.

Before Eric can be free to love the gorgeous handyman they have to make it through the July4th grand opening. With rain that won’t stop and a meddling brother intent on wreaking havoc, can the holiday still go off with a bang?

The first Pride Month snippet…

Hello Snippetters & Happy Pride Month! I hope you’re staying safe and healthy while you celebrate!

My snip this weekend is from the first book in my Buchanan House series—I’ll be talking about it a lot from here on out, since the boxset will be out on June 23rd!

For now, here’s a snip from work party weekend, when some of the family meet Tim, the handyman helping the MC (Eric) and his bestie fix up the LGBTQIA+ resort, for the first time.

The closer Eric got to Tim, the hotter his face felt. Damn Nathan and Paulie and their uncouth natures, making Eric think of Tim’s hands…. By the time he turned back to look at everyone, sitting around the table looking like a bunch of fat cats with canaries in their mouths, Eric knew his face was red. “Everyone, this is Tim. He’s been fixing things around here. He’s a professional handyman.”

Thanks for reading!

Budget Book Rec: Shameless Self Promotion!

Over the past week & change I’ve been taking a class and learning how to market my work better and reach more readers. It’s been a challenge, and sometimes fun, and a LOT of new information every day—which is great!—but all that has left me with no time to find a budget book to rec this week. I’ve been reading (and working on my March 6th release!) but mostly paperbacks so I can get away from a screen for a little while. It’s been fun re-reading some favorites from my bookshelves and I recommend doing that once in a while, if you don’t already.

So. Today I’m going to plug my own budget book, the first Buchanan House Love Story, Buchanan House. It’s $0.99, so you can meet the family without breaking the bank. For the 2nd Edition I’ve combined Buchanan House and Pride Weekend into a single volume, so you get two full stories for that dollar!

I’m not going to quote from the book or tell you what I like about it—beyond that it’s chock full of hurt / comfort, which is my favorite trope! All the books in the series have different tropes, but most also have an element of hurt / comfort. Click any of the book covers in this post (or a buy link, of course!) and you can decide for yourself which quote stands out or if you love the characters (spoiler alert: I love them all!).

Stay tuned, I’ll have another budget book rec next Wednesday. Coming soon in this space: info about a Valentine’s Day giveaway in my author group, and more updates on my March release!

Thanks for reading & have a great week!

End of Summer Sale!

Buchanan House Series graphicBeach season is almost over here in the Pacific Northwest & that’s a great reason to have a sale. I don’t really need a reason, but that’s a good one!

I’m also celebrating getting my Buchanan House series back out into the world. For a few years I’ve been a hybrid author but now I’m 100% Indie. While that’s been challenging, it’s also been kind of fun.

But back to the sale! The Buchanan House series will be on a Kindle Countdown Sale through September 2nd. Prices will be the best for the first two days–Aug. 27-28. If you’re looking for a nice long read over the lovely long weekend, this might be the one for you!

Visit the Buchanan House Series Page on Amazon!

One thing, though. Because of a glitch (haha, read: user error) Art House won’t join in the sale until  Thursday, Aug. 29. I’ve learned a lot over the past two months, mainly that it’s all up to me now. So I want to thank all of the readers who have tried one of my books–I appreciate you all!

If you’d like to see just how much I appreciate my readers, subscribe to my newsletter and get a free ebook! Just click this link.

One more thing–I’ve just re-released my noir with witches, The Pinch of the Game, only on PayHip, for those of you who would like an epub version, or if you’d just rather not buy from Amazon. Pinch will be available on PayHip through September 29th, at a savings from first edition prices. On October 1 this book will go into Kindle Unlimited, in time for Halloween. I can’t believe I’m already talking about Halloween!

Learn more about The Pinch of the Game here.

Thanks for reading & have a great day!

Buchanan House by Charley Descoteaux

Eric Allen, thirty-three-year-old line cook, moved in with his grandmother, Jewell, after a disastrous coming-out when he was in middle school. She raised him, and he cared for her when she fell ill. When Jewell died she left everything to Eric—angering his parents and older brother. The inheritance isn’t much, but Eric and his bestie Nathan pool their money and buy an abandoned hotel on an isolated stretch of the Central Oregon Coast. The hotel isn’t far from Lincoln City—a town with its own Pride Festival and named for a president—so they christen it Buchanan House after James Buchanan, the “confirmed bachelor” president with the close male friend.

Eric and Nathan need a handyman to help them turn Buchanan House into the gay resort of their dreams. Eric finds Tim Tate in the local listings and over the months leading to opening weekend Tim reveals himself as a skilled carpenter with many hidden talents. Eric falls hard for Tim, but before he can see a future with the gorgeous handyman he has to get over twenty years of being bullied and shamed by his birth family. It would be much easier if Eric’s brother Zach weren’t trying to grab part of the inheritance or ruin opening weekend.

A “first time” snippet…

Hand drawing heart in sand on the beachHola, Snippeteers!

This has been one crazy summer at Casa Des and I’ve missed everyone at Snippet Sunday.

Here’s a long one, to make up for being away. It’s from Buchanan House, which will be released on Wednesday! This is Eric and Tim’s first date so there’s a little awkward to go with the smexy.

Tim rested his palm on Eric’s chest and slowly turned toward him. They gazed into each other’s eyes for a long moment. Tim didn’t look away when he unbuttoned Eric’s shirt and eased him back against the arm of the couch. By the time Tim’s lips found his, Eric was almost squirming in anticipation. Tim kissed him until he felt like he’d become part of the sofa, as though his muscles had no tension but that which Tim shared with him.

Eric whimpered when Tim’s mouth left his and began a slow exploration of his body. He’d thought maybe Tim didn’t have much experience making love, or maybe he’d just hoped they would be on even footing in that arena. It didn’t take long before he was proven very wrong. And how wonderfully wrong he was. Maybe Tim hadn’t always been so reserved and inscrutable, or maybe men on the coast cared less about things like that. In Portland, if you weren’t a social butterfly, you might as well be invisible.

Just then, Eric couldn’t be mistaken for invisible. Tim’s lips and tongue, his hands and the warm weight of his body, made Eric feel more than he’d felt… ever. He’d never made any noise during his few stolen encounters with his “boyfriend” while Jewell spent time with friends. Before long, Eric was convinced it was all about his partner. All about the ways Tim touched him, the way Tim sighed in open appreciation when he freed Eric from his clothes. Tim Tate had him moaning like a porn star, and the kicker was, Eric didn’t feel one iota of embarrassment or self-consciousness. Nothing but wonderful.

Thanks for reading!

If you’d like to read the whole story it’s available for pre-order from all the usual places, and will be released on Wednesday, August 19th! I have a book blast and blog tour planned, with giveaways of course. The schedule is here and i’ll be updating it with links as the posts go live to make it easier to enter.
