Book Blast: Songbook: Paulo and Preston Shorts by Lee Benoit

600x600BannerExcerpt:

He was flying from my flogger, and I knew I could break him with the whip. I shouldn’t — he was too new — he’d imprint on me like an orphan nestling. I decided once more on this mad, unexpected night, to trust myself. I would whip Paulo, not break him, and let him down gently once our performance ended.

I examined my control for a split second as I drew back my arm. No uncertainty, no sense of wrongness intruded. I was flying, too, and as much I trusted myself, I found I trusted my surprise sub too. This was right.

He screamed around the gag at the whip’s kisses anyway, though mine were not blows that would shatter him unless I’d read him very, very wrong.

I dropped the whip and removed the obscene gag, kissed the swollen lips, swallowed the last notes of his strange, wild song just as our finale music burgeoned around us. A choir of boys sang John the Beloved’s hymn “Shine on Me,” the perfect song for my last Epiphany on this stage and, I knew now, my first on a new path.

About the author:

Before dawn and after dark, Lee Benoit is a writer of queer fiction, some contemporary, some speculative, some historical. During the daylight hours she is a professor of sociology & anthropology. In the old days, Lee traveled the world doing field research. Now she lives in the middle of a New England hayfield where being a single parent provides more than enough excitement. Proudly pansexual, whenever she gets itchy feet and misses the world of research and advocacy, Lee invents a new world in her head and takes notes on what happens there.

Book Blast: Room 1024 by Racheline Maltese and Erin McRae

Room600x600Banner

Excerpt:

Between dinner and dessert—which is clearly going to be all about dessert wine because Lou loves a ritual, whether of a meal or of a certain sort of sex—Lou walks his fingers across the table toward Noah, stops just short of touching him, and says, “So what do you like?”

Lou glances at Cameron to make sure it’s all right he’s asked, only after the fact, and Cameron gives a little nod. Among other things, he’s curious how Noah, who agitated for this trip and is constantly saying he wants them to be more a part of the community, will take the reality of it.

Noah glances around and blushes slightly at the impending necessity of mentioning spanking and flogging and CBT in public. Cameron finds it completely endearing. It also reveals, while Lou smirks over them all, just what it takes to turn Stephen into a chatterbox: comparing notes.

Eventually, Lou runs a finger around the rim of his wine glass and says, “Well then, we should all play together tomorrow.”

Guest Author: Vicktor Alexander!

Vicktor is back and he’s brought a different book! He’s a busy guy, but I managed to grab a few minutes for an interview.

Thanks for visiting again, Vicktor!

Tell us something that people would be surprised you know how to do.

I know how to cook and dance. LOL. That’s two for one. I love creating new dishes in the kitchen (which is why I don’t bake. Too many rules and guidelines. No. Thank you). I actually do a really good job and thought about attending culinary school back in 2012, but health problems arose that prevented that from occurring. And up until my injury in the military I was a dancer. I did a lot of modern dance. As a kid I wanted to learn tap (thank you, Shirley Temple for inspiring that in me), but I wasn’t able to do it. I also wanted to do ballet, but I couldn’t do that either. But hip-hop, Latin, ballroom, and modern dance were dances that I could do and I learned from watching television, renting videos from the library or getting friends who were actually taking dance lessons to teach me. A lot of it was just me letting my body move with the music later on, but up until 2009, I actually toured around every so often and danced at church conventions, events, etc.

Name three things on your bucket list.

See my daughter graduate college.

Start up Promise House.

Go on a trip to Boston & Italy.

If you could be a super hero what power would you want?

The power to be invisible, because then I could be in the shower with Shemar Moore and John Barrowman and neither of them would know. LOL.

If you could time travel would you visit the past or the future?

Well, based on what I know about science fiction, even if I were to visit the future, whatever I saw there is not necessarily set in stone. It could be the future for an alternate me, a future that I inadvertently change because I know it’s going to happen. However, travelling to the past has its own set of problems, because how do you not try to stop the bad things from happening? –sigh- Maybe I could go to some very benign time in history and just stand against the wall, although with my love for the medieval, Regency, and Victorian era, just my presence would be enough to change the future. Ugh. I don’t think I’ll go anywhere.

Excerpt:
“How in the world did you make us being friends sound so dirty?” Julian asked.
Miguel chuckled. “Oh that’s easy. I can make anything sound dirty. It’s all about lowering my voice and making everything you say the most seductive thing you’ve ever uttered.”
Julian’s eyebrows rose. “Oh really? Prove it.”
Miguel leaned forward, ignoring the people walking past them, juggling their carry-ons, children, friends and spouses as they exited the plane. He lowered his voice and stared at Julian’s groin, his brain filling with images of Julian’s cock encaged in a cock ring, his body straining against restraints, his skin glistening with sweat as he pleaded with Miguel to let him come.
“Voting for a presidential candidate is one of the best things you can do as an American, because it guarantees that your voice is heard, even when it doesn’t feel like it. It’s a time when you can take control, assert your independence and make sure that you have someone in office who cares about what you care about.” He could hear how seductive his voice sounded and if the darkening of Julian’s eyes was any indication, the man was turned on—though more by the tenor of Miguel’s voice than his actual words. “You should think about voting, Julian,” he said, rolling the younger man’s name around in his mouth like a fine wine. “Enclosing yourself in a booth and either punching a hole or touching a screen and choosing who the head of the country is going to be.”
Julian was panting, his pink lips parted as he stared at Miguel. “Holy fuck,” he croaked out. “That was the sexiest thing I’ve ever heard about the most boring subject in the world.”

About Vicktor

Vicktor “Vic” Alexander wrote his first story at the age of ten and hasn’t stopped writing since. He loves reading about anything and everything and is a proud member of the little known U.N. group (Undercover Nerds) because while he lives, eats, breathes, and sleeps sports, he also breathes history and science fiction and grew up a Trekkie. But don’t ask him about Dungeons & Dragons, because he has no idea how to play that game. When it comes to writing he loves everything from paranormal to contemporary to fantasy to historical and is known not only for being the Epilogue King but also for writing stories that cross lines and boundaries that he doesn’t know are there. Vic is a proud father of two daughters one of whom watches over him from Heaven with his deceased partner Christopher. Vic is a proud trans* and gay man, and when he is not writing, he is hanging out with his friends, or being distracted by videos of John Barrowman, Scott Hoying, and Shemar Moore. Vicktor has published numerous bestselling novels and has a WIP list that makes him exhausted just thinking about. He knows that he will be still be writing about hot men falling in love with each other, long after he is living in an assisted living facility, flirting with the hot, male nurses.
