Excerpt Tour: Ringed Love by Elizabeth Noble!

Today i’m happy to host the lovely Elizabeth Noble and her latest release Ringed Love!

Hello and thank you Charley for hosting me today. The first chapter of Ringed Love is posted on Dreamspinner Press, so over the next two weeks I’ll be offering the first one hundred or so words of each subsequent chapter.

Today’s excerpt is from Chapter 6

Excerpt

Nick stared at his hands and watched blood trickle between his fingers. The wagon bumped and thumped and jostled the passengers inside.

“I gotta find Todd,” Nick mumbled and tried to stand up.

Someone pushed him back down, and a rough, deep voice—not Todd’s—said quietly, “Son, sit for a few minutes. We’re all safe, thanks to you.”

Nick halfway considered simply slugging the man and freeing himself, kind words spoken to him aside. He turned and glanced at the man and decided against that course of action. The man holding Nick in place with a hand to his shoulder was grizzled, with long hair pulled back and a scraggly beard. He was probably as tall as Nick and easily twice as wide. In truth Nick simply didn’t have the energy right now to put up a fight.

Blurb

New Colorado Protectorate fell with the assassination of Chancellor Clarke. Like many others, Todd and Nick Ruger left the land of their birth and made a home to the north in Yellowknife. Their world was ever changing. The time came to say a sad farewell to some of their friends and loved ones, but they were taken in with open arms by others and in turn offered shelter to yet more. Through the years they remained steadfast in their duty as sentries to protect and defend those that needed it the most.

Time marches on but through it all they hold each other dear and cherish the love they’ve shared. There are still angry ghosts, Windigos and water spirits to contend with. Their lives change, offering them new roles. When the time comes, they do what sentries have done for generations prior and teach others the skills to carry on as sentries. The Rugers lives were rich and their hearts full with their devotion and love for each other. The tradition of the sentries lived on forever. It was the legacy of Todd and Nick Ruger. That was the way it was always meant to be.

About The Author

Elizabeth Noble started telling stories before she actually knew how to write, and her family was very happy when she learned to put words on a page. Those words turned into books and fanfiction that turned into a genuine love of M/M romance fiction. Being able to share her works with Dreamspinner is really a dream come true. She has a real love for a good mystery complete with murder and twisty plots as well as all things sci-fi, futuristic, and supernatural and a bit of an unnatural interest in a super-volcano in Wyoming.

Elizabeth has three grown children and is now happily owned by an adorable mixed breed canine princess and her sidekick, tabby cat.  She lives in her native northeast Ohio, the perfect place for gardening and winter and summer sports (go Tribe and Cavs!) and stargazing all year long. When she’s not writing she’s working as a veterinary nurse, so don’t be surprised to see her men with a pet or three who are a very big part of their lives.

Elizabeth received several amateur writing awards. Since being published two of her novels have received honorable mentions in the Rainbow Awards. Her novel Jewel Cave was a runner up in the 2015 Rainbow awards in the Gay Mystery/Thriller category.

Book Blast & #Giveaway : Spanked in the Woodshed by Brina Brady!

Excerpt:

When Shane O’Rourke’s cell phone buzzed on the end table, he straightened up against the headboard in bed to read the message. There was no question as to who was messaging him at noon. Sure enough, Julien’s leather-clad picture wallpapered his screen. Shane’s stomach constricted and his clammy hands trembled. He inhaled a deep breath to center himself. Fuck no. Julien had told him that they couldn’t meet for lunch because of some business meeting with his partner, Adam. Shane didn’t have a clue what prompted him to check up on him.

Shane hadn’t attended school the entire week. He didn’t mention it to Julien, because he was supposed to attend all of his classes according to their agreement for tuition.

Julien: “Where are you?”

Shane: “UCLA.”

Julien: “Did you take a bus?”

Shane: “My motorcycle.” Why would he ask me if I took a bus? He knows I ride my bike. It doesn’t make any sense.

Three minutes later the bedroom door busted open. Julien stood in the doorway, arms folded and glared at him. Shane knew that particular look, and it never meant anything good on the horizon. He shouldn’t have lied to Julien. He always found out, one way or another. When would he learn from his past mistakes? His father had been right; he was nothing but a liar going straight to hell.

Book Blast & #Giveaway : For Me by Brina Brady!

Excerpt:

Adrik was deep in conversation with Valerik when they approached the porch. Their conversation terminated when Dmitri and Brennen arrived. Mischa was right behind them.

“Why is he here? He’s not a Dubrovsky. He’s your wife, so he needs to be baking in the kitchen.” Valerik spit on the snow.

Brennen lowered his eyes for a moment and when he’d had just about enough, he spoke in Russian to be sure the old man heard and understood. “That is the last cheap fucking insult you get. One more insult from you and I’ll personally take Dominika home. You’ll never see our daughter again.”

“That was uncalled for,” Dmitri shouted at Valerik. “I stand with Brennen on this. You insult my husband one more time, then you’ll never see any of us.”

“That goes for me, too. I won’t allow you to treat Brennen like this. We love him and he is part of us. You need to apologize,” Mischa said.

“I agree. Brennen has been part of the Dubrovsky family since he was a child. Keep your homophobic attitude out of Christmas. We’re here to celebrate as a family. None of us will visit you ever again if you continue this abuse,” Adrik said.

Excerpt:

Dmitri took Brennen’s hand and they walked to the outside bar, sitting right on the white sand. They each sat down on a stool. Dmitri had ordered them two fun island drinks with the cute umbrellas inside the glasses.

“It’s so nice to be alone with you, Bren. Just us. No one else.”

“Yeah, finally.”

“Do you like your drink?” Dmitri asked.

“Yeah, it’s fine. Good choice.”

“So what’s wrong then?”

“What do you mean?” Brennen stirred his drink and removed the umbrella.

“I can tell you’re pissed off about something.” Dmitri forked his shrimp and dipped it in the hot red sauce.

“Are you really ready to hear why I’m pissed?” Brennen asked.

The lively twinkle in his blue eyes only incensed Dmitri more. He knew something had been wrong since the night he had returned from Antonio’s. He probably could have taken him with him, but he just didn’t want to taint him with anything illegal

Book Blast and #Giveaway: The Mistress and Her Men by Minerva Howe!

BRC

Excerpt:

London 1779 Simon sat in the depths of a smoky gambling hell, his cravat undone, his coat tossed carelessly across a stool near his feet. He knew he presented the very portrait of a debauched noble gambling his night away. That was precisely what he wanted, because he was in the gaming hell as a spy tonight, rather than a full participant.

Tonight he was watching his dear friend Matthias wager away every bit of good fortune the man had ever possessed. Indeed, Simon saw a note that no doubt represented every bit of Matthias’s remaining land in the pile of loot at the center of his table. What Simon really wished to do was to go over to that table and wipe it clean with his arm, dramatically saving Matthias from himself. He knew, however, that his friend would not thank him for it, so instead he would wait until a destitute Matthias left to drown his sorrows in whatever drink he might yet afford. Then he would buy all of those notes back from the winners, whether they wished to sell or not. A roar from Matthias brought Simon’s attention back from his thoughts. Matthias’s gaming table spilled over, notes and coins flying.

“You’re a damned cheat,” Matthias shouted, and in finally seeing Matthias’s opponent’s face, Simon could not but agree. Lord Chalmsley was, indeed, a terrible cheat. He was also armed with a dagger in his sleeve, which snicked into place against Matthias’s breastbone in less than a heartbeat.

“How dare you, sir?” Chalmsley said calmly. “I have beaten you over and over this evening because of your lack of skill, not chicanery.”

“That’s a load of shite.” Matthias pressed against the blade until a red spot appeared on his lawn shirt. “Had you nothing to hide you would not conceal a weapon and use it so readily.”

Chalmsley backed away slowly. “I only protect myself, you insolent bastard.”

“Ah, but I am no more a bastard than you are,” Matthias stated. “Fight me fairly.”

“I did. With the cards.” With a flourish of his blade, Chalmsley bent to pick up the notes before stuffing them into his coat. “Good night, all.” Matthias lunged, only to be held back by a few acquaintances. Not an easy task, considering his stature, his heavy muscles. Simon watched him thusly restrained, and the kernel of an idea took hold in his mind. The image of that bright spot of blood crystalized in Simon’s thoughts.

Good God, his friend had a death wish. Yes, Matthias had a need to castigate himself. To punish himself for his perceived failures in life. How many times had Simon seen Matthias throw the first punch or toss a note in someone’s face? How many times had the man courted danger to his person simply because he didn’t think he was worthy of his life? He wondered why it had taken him so long to realize that he knew of a solution. Oh, God help him, he might just be able to save Matthias from another night such as this, from giving away his land and his life to fulfill some sort of fatalistic desire.

Matthias needed to explore this need for violence, for self-punishment, in a safe place. Would that Simon could become that place, but he knew Matthias would never accept such games from a man, let alone one he considered a close friend. There was someone, though, someone who would give Matthias what he needed.

Simon stood, assuming his jacket before he left the room so that Matthias never saw him. He dropped his own blade into his hand when he approached Chalmsley from behind, then pressed the dagger to the man’s ribs. “I’ll take those notes, my lord,” he said, smiling when Chalmsley stiffened. “I would have bought them, but I do abhor a cheat.”

Excerpt:

Chapter One

Dillinger Robinson raised his hand to knock on the door, but it flew open before he had a chance to and two adorable twinks all but fell out onto the stoop. They stopped short when they saw him, one boy gasping softly.

“Sorry, Master, we didn’t see you there.”

Dill chuckled and nodded. “I take it this is where the party is?” He’d been invited by his good friend Jeff, both of them members at the Hammer, though he’d known Jeff from earlier. It was nice they had that in common. Friends not in the lifestyle didn’t always understand it.

The boy who’d spoken nodded. “Almost everyone’s in the backyard.”

“Thank you.” He stepped to the side and the two of them continued their headlong rush down the stairs and to the street.

Chuckling, he went in, closing the door behind him. From there he went up the half-set of stairs, following the noise to a large room with a circle of couches and chairs that opened up into a kitchen on the right.

There were maybe a half-dozen sweet young things there, and he could see through a window that there were indeed more people out back in the yard and on a lovely, large deck.

Jeff caught sight of him from the yard, waved, and called out loudly. “Dilly! Come on out. You want a beer?”

“Jeff!” Grinning, he headed for his friend. “A beer would be great.”

He skirted a couple more giggling boys at the door, and shook his head as he joined his friend. “You’ve got quite the zoo here.”

“You know it. It’s like herding horny cats.”

That had him laughing and clapping Jeff on the back. “You’ve been very scarce lately and now I know why.”

“Busy working and making love to my boy, man.”

“So do I get to meet this amazing sub who captured you?”

Jeff hadn’t been looking very hard, he knew that. Which meant his boy was special.

Jeff didn’t hesitate for a second. “Paul, come meet Dilly.”

A sweet boy came over with two beers in hand and Dill recognized him from the Hammer. He was one hell of a bartender, quick and clever and charming as hell. “Master Dilly. Welcome. Would you like a beverage?” The beer was held out.

“Thank you very much, Paul. It’s really nice to meet you formally.” He took the beer. “You can call me Master Dill, though.” Only old friends got to call him Dilly.

“Oh, I’m sorry. Master Dill. Of course.” Paul ducked his head, pinked so prettily.

“It’s okay, boy, you didn’t know.” Dill blamed Jeff.

“Can I get anyone else anything?” Paul asked.

“I’m good with the beer — thanks.” He smiled at Jeff as Paul wandered off again. “He’s a sweetheart.”

“He is. Honestly, he’s everything I’ve ever asked for.”

“I’m so glad for you.”

“Me too.”

Honestly, he’d never seen Jeff so happy. “So tell me about this house. It’s yours?”

“Oh, no. I manage it for Barney and Dev. They’re the owners.”

“A pair of Doms?” Dill asked, looking around.

“Barney’s the Dom. He’s… you see the guy holding that watermelon? That’s Barn. Devvie’s probably in the center of the guys.”

“Why is he holding a watermelon?” Dill asked. A Dom and a sub owning a house full of subs. That was interesting.

“I think it’s a contest, but really, who knows?”

“A contest…” Dill chuckled and shook his head. “Okay… I’m guessing it’s quite the madhouse around here.”

“You have no idea. I have twenty-two boys right now, twenty-three if you count the castaway who everyone pretends isn’t living here.”

Dill felt his eyes widen. “Twenty-three? Wow.” He grinned. “And what exactly is a castaway?”

Jeff rolled his eyes. “Stephen has a cousin, Brad. He’s a broke perpetual student. He works wherever he can pull a shift, was sleeping on sofas. Now he has a cot and a sleeping bag in Stephen and Aaron’s room. At least he’s safe.”

Dill nodded. “It’s a good thing you’re doing here. The boys need a safe place, especially if outsiders find out what they’re into.”

“It’s a safe place. A good home for those just starting out.”

“I think that’s awesome.” Dill did love the BDSM community here. They were good people.

His eye was caught by a willowy, lean boy with a goatee and a little ponytail. He suddenly had the urge to control the boy with that ponytail. His cock went rock hard, his entire body responding to the thought. He breathed in, keeping his calm, but unable to keep his eyes off the boy in question.

“That’s my castaway,” Jeff noted. “He’s… he’s something else.”

Dill knew what he thought. “He’s stunning.”

Often referred to as “Space Cowboy” and “Gangsta of Love” while still striving for the moniker of “Maurice,” Sean Michael spends his days surfing, smutting, organizing his immense gourd collection and fantasizing about one day retiring on a small secluded island peopled entirely by horseshoe crabs. While collecting vast amounts of vintage gay pulp novels and mood rings, Sean whiles away the hours between dropping the f-bomb and pursuing the kama sutra by channeling the long lost spirit of John Wayne and singing along with the soundtrack to “Chicago.”

Book Blast and #Giveaway: Emerald Eyes by Julia Talbot!

RCExcerpt:

Jonny glanced up from his stack of surveys and geological reports, frowning. Kasey rarely sounded so serious these days, which for a broody older vampire was quite a feat. Hooking up with a werewolf had been the best thing for the fellow, really.

“What’s wrong?”

Kasey’s black brows drew together in what looked to be a puzzled scowl. “We have a situation.”

He barely held back his eye roll. “Goody.”

“Yeah, yeah. Deke got these today. Came in from our monitoring entry into the country.” Kasey handed him a stack of printed photos. Of what looked like his lover, Luc. No, not just looked like. This was Luc, except that his slinky werekitty was asleep in cat form four feet above him on the top of his armoire.

He let one eyebrow raise and pinned Kasey with a look. “Explain.”

“Yeah, somehow I think we might have to ask Luc to do that.” Kasey walked over and pulled that fuzzy black tail hanging down like a lamp chain.

He did enjoy his lover’s speed, the wild yowl, the flash of claws. Good thing Kasey had a vamp’s reflexes.

“Hey, furball. I need you to be human for a minute,” Kasey said.

Luc muttered, calling Kasey a wild assortment of things, including a few insults about Kasey’s mother, as he crawled down the armoire.

“It’s not as if he can see the photo, Kasey,” Jonny reminded gently. “He’s blind.”

“Oh. Right.” Kasey grinned over at him. “He’s so good at everything, I forgot.”

Jonny did glare at his mate, however. “Tell me, sweet, do you have family I don’t know about?”

Luc stretched, totally unconcerned with hurrying to console him in the least. Possibly. Which one in particular?

“One who looks just like you?” It was uncanny, really.

Ah. My twin. Yves. So casual. Ah yes, my twin — as if it were nothing.

Jonny glared, knowing Luc would feel his disapproval. “This didn’t seem important?”

“Children, we need to share the information with the investigator,” Kasey reminded them.

“He has a twin, apparently.” Jonny nudged Luc with the toe of this shoe. “Come speak to Kasey.”

Luc sighed, a sound that came out as a cough for a kitty, before shifting to his human form, which always made Jonny’s ears pop.

“I thought you knew,” Luc murmured.

“How could we know?”

Luc shrugged. “He’s never in the States. He’s always in South America bonding with the natives and hunting precious gemstones. He’s an addict. Has to hunt. I haven’t talked to him in…”

Luc stopped and frowned, and Jonny didn’t like this. Not at all.

“…in a bit.”

“How long?” Kasey asked, tone sharp. Someone else felt the weird vibes, too.

“Right before I met my mate, I think. I spoke to him then.”

Jonny exchanged a glance with Kasey, who scowled. “What did you talk about?”

“Emeralds. He had asked me to acquire a certain pair, I did the job, put them in a safety deposit box, and let him know.”

“Oh, for fuck’s sake. Who else knew about these emeralds?” Now Kasey was growling as though he was the werewolf instead of his lover, Deke.

“I have no idea. I had an address, a window. That was it.”

Jonny nodded slowly. “Okay. Kasey, you and Deke find out who else had an interest and if Silvia has anything to do with this. Luc, you need to get ahold of your brother. I want a detail on him.”

“What does that mean?” Luc scribbled down an address, a safety deposit box number. “He’ll go here. I mean, I’ll put an ad in the paper, see if he hollers. He’s… slippery.”

“That means if we thought he looked like you, someone else might think he’s you,” Kasey said. “I’m on it, Boss.”

Jonny sat back with a sigh, drew his mate into his lap. “You are a very great deal of trouble, sweet.”

“I’m worth it.” Luc kissed him. “Yves is… not like me.”

“Tell me about him?” Jonny stroked Luc’s hair, curious as hell.

“He’s addicted to gemstones, to the stories behind them. It’s like a sickness, worse than the jobs I used to work, I think, because I was at least collecting funds for it.” Luc leaned in, snuggling close. “There was another of us. He died fighting insurgents in the desert, long before there were troops on the ground. Yves went a little crazy when we lost Girard.”

“I’m sorry, sweet.” His family had been gone so long that he barely remembered them fondly.

“It was a long time ago; he’ll get over it.”

The sudden stiffness in Luc’s body said perhaps that was a bit of a fib. Jonny didn’t remark upon it; he simply touched and kissed until Luc relaxed.

“Love you, Mate.” And that was that, yes? What they had together, it was love.

“And I you, Luc.” He kissed Luc’s jaw. In fact, he loved his kit enough to want to finish off whoever had hurt him and to protect this unknown brother Yves.

Good thing Kasey and Deke knew what to do from here.

Someone needed to have a clear head in all this. He hoped his friends could do that for him.

Book Blast and #Giveaway: Exchange of Power a Torquere Press Anthology

RCExcerpt:

From How the Mighty Have Fallen by Bailey Bradford

Hadrian sat up straight and stuck his nose in the air. “And, just for your information, I have not been–”

“Liar, liar, leather chaps on fire,” Larry sang. “Shut up already, you vestal virgin, and go get fucked and whipped. At least one of us should be having fun tonight. Since I can’t find anyone who wants to do only one of those things with me, I’m giving up. Plus, Thomas’ ex is busy trying to fuck everything that crosses his path. I’m guessing he thinks he has something to prove.”

Hadrian bristled a little when Larry called Master Thomas just by his given name instead of using the honorific, but he got it. Master Thomas wasn’t Larry’s master, nor was he Hadrian’s. However, Hadrian always thought of him as Master Thomas, perhaps because he did harbor a secret desire to serve the man. Although, maybe it wasn’t such a secret, since Larry had picked up on it.

“I guess he does have something to prove,” Hadrian murmured since Larry seemed to be waiting for some kind of agreement from him.

“But is it to himself, or to Thomas, hm?” Larry asked. “You gotta wonder what went down between those two, though… I heard stuff about Kelly. The guy’s an asshole and a half.”

Hadrian arched a brow at Larry. “And what, exactly, is a half an asshole?”

“A fuckin’ mess who likes to screw with people’s heads, that’s what,” Larry drawled. “Now grow a pair and go make that dom feel better.”

Hadrian wanted to smack Larry, but the smug smartass would just enjoy it if he did.

Larry narrowed his eyes at Hadrian. “Or, you know, I suppose I could go see if he wants to do a scene together.”

Hadrian was irritated despite his desire to remain unaffected by Larry’s attempt — damn it, a successful one! — to goad him into action.

Because suddenly, Hadrian’s body was determined to circumvent any argument his brain might have made. He was standing up and flipping Larry off before Larry could do more than cackle.

“You’re an ass,” Hadrian muttered.

Larry gave him two thumbs up. “You love me.”

Hadrian didn’t dignify that statement with a response. Besides, Larry was right and he knew it.

“Go get ’em, stud,” Larry urged, not nearly as quietly as Hadrian wished he had. Of course he was loud enough that Master Thomas glanced their way.

Book Tour and #Giveaway: Building Bonds by Morticia Knight

RCAuthor Name: Morticia Knight

Book Name: Building Bonds (Kiss of Leather 1)

Release Date: August 26, 2015

Pages or Words: 173 pages

Categories: BDSM, M/M Romance, Romance

Excerpt:

“I don’t have to be naked, right? You’re sure I won’t have to be naked?” Kyle sucked in a gulp of air. “Of course, if everyone else is and I’m not…Oh God, they’ll all be staring at me. Maybe I should be naked.”

Gavin stepped from the shower and the sight of his stunning frame with his semi-erect cock swaying, rivulets of water trailing down his beautiful skin over his rock hard abs – it made him want to…

“Kyle. Did you hear what I said?”

“Huh?”

Gavin chuckled then advanced on him. He grabbed Kyle by his nape then pulled him in for a deep kiss. He broke their connection, except he kept his hand circled around Kyle’s neck, holding him there, safe.

“No one expects you to be naked, least of all me. You have a wonderful body that I hope you’ll someday allow others to see, but tonight isn’t about pushing your boundaries.”

“Are you kidding me? They’re not being pushed, they’re being trampled.”

“Kyle. Now would be a good time to remember that you need to address me properly at all times.”

“Oh. Sorry. Are you kidding me, Master?”

Gavin narrowed his eyes at him. “We’ll revisit the tone of your voice later. I don’t want to be late.”

Kyle’s eyes widened. He was such a mass of jangled nerves about going to the dungeon owned and run by Gavin’s friend, he hadn’t noticed how his words might’ve come across.

“I am sorry. I’m just a little freaked out, that’s all.”

Gavin placed another light kiss on his lips. “All right. I’ll let it go this time. I’ll also acknowledge that I might be on the verge of trampling your boundaries. But I think you can handle it and I believe you’ll do very, very well. Focus on your desire to make me proud and let everything else fall away.” Gavin stroked Kyle’s cheek with the back of his hand. “Your safewords always apply, no matter where we are, boy.”

Kyle took in another deep breath. “Okay. Thank you. That helped. I just don’t want to, I mean, of course I want to make you proud, but won’t people be expecting you to have someone more, uh, not only experienced, but either super pretty and twinky or hot and-“

“Stop it. Don’t say another word or there will be a punishment and it’ll involve the cock cage with the penis plug I showed you.”

Oh shit.

“Please. Not that.”

“Then remember how stunning I think you are and how angry it makes me that you would denigrate my beautiful boy.” Gavin pulled him close, nuzzling him behind his ear, placing soft kisses on his skin. “I want only you.”

About the author:

Author Morticia Knight spends most of her nights writing about men loving men forever after. If there happens to be some friendly bondage or floggings involved, she doesn’t begrudge her characters whatever their filthy little heart’s desire. Even though she’s been crafting her naughty tales for more years than she’d like to share – her adventures as a published author began in 2011. Once upon a time she was the lead singer in an indie rock band that toured the West Coast and charted on U.S. college radio. She currently resides on the northern Oregon coast and when she’s not fantasizing about hot men she takes walks along the ocean and annoys the local Karaoke bar patrons.

Guest Author: Grace R. Duncan!

I’m thrilled to welcome Grace R. Duncan back to my little corner of the net today! She’s on tour for her new release, Turning His Life Around, and has brought a special treat or two so i’ll just get out of the way and let you enjoy…

Thanks for visiting Grace!

Hello and welcome to the Turning His Life Around blog tour! I wanted to do something a little different this time around and so starting today and for the next eight days, I’ve put together a running short story. This story happens a couple of years before Turning takes place, when Ian is learning he’s in love with Kane but hasn’t quite accepted what all that means for him yet, since Kane doesn’t return that love.

The story will continue for all nine tour stops! Be sure to catch each one because everyone who reads all nine and can answer a scavenger hunt questionnaire based on the story will be entered to win $25 a Dreamspinner Press! Check the end of this post for a link to the tour page.

TurningHisLifeAround_headerbanner“Come on, let me take this off,” Kane grumbled again and reached up to pull at his blindfold.

Ian laughed and swatted his hand away. “No. You couldn’t decide where to go to celebrate the new job, so I get to surprise you. And if I’m going to surprise you, I’m going to go all the way with it. So, you’re just going to have to deal.”

“Ian…” Kane whined.

Reaching over from the driver’s seat, Ian gave Kane a light pinch to his leg. “Stop. We’ll be there soon.”

Kane sighed and mumbled something Ian didn’t catch, but he stopped complaining. Ian turned his attention to driving and was grateful when, a few turns later, he pulled into the restaurant’s parking lot. “Okay, stay put. I’ll be around to get you.”

“Okay,” Kane said, gripping the side of the seat, obviously working to keep from moving the blindfold.

He hurried around the car and opened Kane’s door then guided his friend out. “Okay, ready?”

Kane bit his lip, undoubtedly holding back a retort that would piss Ian off, then said, “Yes. Please.”

Ian grinned and pulled his mom’s silk scarf from around Kane’s eyes. “HOLY SHIT!” Kane nearly shouted then spun around, huge grin on his face. “Really?”

Smile spreading even wider, Ian nodded. “Yeah, really. I take it you’re okay with it?”

“Oh hell yeah! I’ve been wanting to go here forever. Holy shit, thank you,” Kane said and grabbed Ian in a hug, followed immediately by a hard kiss that briefly left Ian stunned.

When Kane turned back around, Ian had to shake his head hard to get his sanity back. He tossed the scarf into his car and shut the door. “Well, then, shall we?” Ian asked and they started around the building.

Kaishoku was one of the few truly authentic Japanese restaurants in the city. One of the Japanese gentlemen Ian worked with had recommended it some time ago. He’d said the food was very much like he’d had at home even if some of the sushi choices were still western. But the rest of it reminded him of home and that had been good enough for Ian.

The understated building certainly looked like a transplant from Tokyo, or, at least, from suburban Japan. One long, wide level rose up from the ground slightly with a long porch stretched across the front of the painted white exterior. Cherry wood trim ran around the windows and doors and along the bottom of the black, pointed roof. The doors were also done in a cherry wood with slatted windows inset and they slid open like traditional shoji doors.

When they stepped into the interior, Ian’s breath caught. It was gorgeous. A small stream ran behind the hostess station with a variety of koi swimming in the water, all of them almost as large as Ian’s forearm, some in bright red, a few with orange spots and some black and white. One looked almost translucent. Ian had to fight the urge to kneel down next to the stream to look closer.

Instead, he took in the rest of the relatively small room. The stream ran under walls on either side of the entry way, disappearing into the rest of the building. A lighter wood here in the interior, made up most of the walls and floor. The rest of the walls were white and looked like traditional rice paper, as were the shoji doors leading off to the left and right. Across from them and over a tiny footbridge, an archway led to a hallway filled with more shoji doors.

Soft music that sounded like it was some sort of lute and flute combination floated from invisible speakers to accompany the burble of the stream. The hostess’s voice added to the sound as she talked to someone on a cordless phone. Ian couldn’t tell if she was speaking English, Japanese, or some other language because she was talking too fast for him to make it out.

As they approached the stand, she looked up and smiled at them. “Yes, thank you. We will see you then,” she finished in a heavy Asian accent. “Very good. Good bye!” She pushed the button on the phone and set it down, looking up at them. “Good evening!” she greeted them, bowing slightly. “Welcome to Kaishoku! How may I help you?”

“Hello,” Ian said, returning her smile and putting his hand on Kane’s back. “Reservations for Kelly.”

“Oh yes! Very good. Very good,” she said, pulling out menus. She consulted a map of the restaurant as she pulled out a long piece of paper, then glanced up at them again. Her eyes widened a little when she spotted Ian’s hand on Kane’s back and Ian tensed, not sure what to expect for a reaction.

Grace Duncan grew up with a wild imagination.  She told stories from an early age – many of which got her into trouble.  Eventually, she learned to channel that imagination into less troublesome areas, including fanfiction, which is what has led her to writing male/male erotica.

A gypsy in her own right, Grace has lived all over the United States.  She has currently set up camp in East Texas with her husband and children – both the human and furry kind.

As one of those rare creatures who loves research, Grace can get lost for hours on the internet, reading up on any number of strange and different topics.  She can also be found writing fanfiction, reading fantasy, crime, suspense, romance and other erotica or even dabbling in art.
