Happy Caturday, Snippetteers!
It’s Rainbow Snippets time again, the day when writers and bloggers share 6 sentences of queer fiction for your (and our!) reading pleasure! You might find historical fiction, YA, something sweet or something spicy, but the common thread is that all main characters will identify as LGBTQ+.
I’ve been sharing from my upcoming release “Pride Weekend” the free short Dreamspinner generously allowed me to offer as a thank-you to readers of the first book in the Buchanan House series, and i think i’ll do it again. PW may be a free short, but there is conflict–here’s a snippet from Silas’ point of view with a little bit of that. Plus, now that the cover art is fully released, i get to scatter it shamelessly about the tubes!
I’d never had so much sex in such a short time, but when Sunday came, my heart fluttered with panic. I didn’t want it to be over, for Adam to leave—to leave me. But we’d been clear on the “no strings” bit, and I had to live up to my end.
I lived up to it a little too well—leaping from bed at ten on Sunday to pack, locking him out of the bathroom while I showered, thanking him for arranging the fun weekend.
Adam must’ve packed while I was in the bathroom, because we barely said good-bye, and he left. He walked away from me, looking so dejected it broke my heart. I hadn’t wanted to let him go, but it didn’t seem like I had much choice.
Thanks for reading!
Don’t forget to head back to the Rainbow Snippets FB Group, where you’ll find links to more snippets of queer fiction from new and established authors. It’s a fun way to spend a few hours on a relaxing weekend. You (and your TBR list) have been warned! *lol*
“Pride Weekend”, by Charley Descoteaux
Release Date: April 22, 2016
Overworked cubicle jockey Adam Byron wants to attend Oregon Coast Pride in style but the price of a room at Buchanan House, a popular gay retreat on the central coast, is beyond his budget. So he won’t miss out, he advertises online for someone to share expenses. Corporate drone Silas Grant responds to Adam’s ad, and the two get to know each other via texts before meeting at the coast. They agree on a no-pressure roommate arrangement, yet once they meet face-to-face their attraction is undeniable. Desire might simmer well beyond Pride weekend, no matter how hard Adam and Silas try to live up to their noncommitment pact.
Silly Silas, you do…you do have a choice! (Bet he figures that out!) 😉
Awwww. Silas, go after him, you ninny!
Silas, don’t be thick headed here.
*bangs their heads together* 😉
awww…
OH Silas, you could have handled that a little better. I hurt for both of them. 😦
Lovely cover and I hope they can sort things out.
Aww, Adam clearly didn’t want it to come to an end any more than Silas did. Get after him, man!
Oh, boys, sort yourselves out and start communicating. Bless them.
Awww. It’ll all work out, I’m sure! 😉
Poor Adam…
Oh, wow. This feels soooo familiar… (I did that to my future husband.) I just hope Adam can see it for what it is. Or Silas grows a brain.
Oh, these guys need to get their acts together…
