Hello and Happy Caturday snippet lovers!
Welcome to my Rainbow Snippets post. In case you haven’t heard, RS is a group on Facebook where authors and bloggers get together on the weekends to share 6 sentences of fiction or a book recommendation. You’re officially invited to become a member of the group, to post or to read the weekly snippets. It’s a laid back group (it runs on West Coast US time, so it kind of has to be ;))–members leave links to their snippets when they can and everyone hops around reading when they’re able.
I’m sharing another bit from Cascades, my holiday novella from Dreamspinner Press. This snippet picks up where we left off last week, but from JB’s point of view.
When Doug said we were headed to Chinatown, I almost turned around and went back inside the hostel. I hadn’t come all the way to Canada to hunt snipes with a smartass. But he looked so happy about it I couldn’t say no, couldn’t walk away. I thought we’d take the SkyTrain, but he kept walking, even though it was misting and he didn’t have a decent coat.
A few minutes later, as soon as I saw the gate at the entrance, I knew it wasn’t a snipe hunt. Vancouver, Canada, did Chinatown up big, like San Francisco.
Thanks for reading!

You’re really making me want to go to Vancouver just to go to Chinatown. I think I need to read more to get the context of the snipe hunt.
JB thinks Doug is yanking his chain, but only because that used to be one of his favorite pastimes. 😉
Thanks for reading, PT!
A snipe hunt, i haven’t heard that term in years!
Haha, that’s one reason i love writing characters who are old like me–they can use ancient terms like “snipe hunt” and not sound too odd. *lol*
Thanks for visiting, Layla!
Snipe. I have a feeling that your snipe and my snipe might be different.
*googles*
Oh that’s unkind. I’m glad it’s not one of those.
Now i’m curious about your snipe. Do you mean the bird? Much nicer than a snipe hunt. 🙂
Thanks for visiting, Elin!
Intriguing. So what happens next, hm? 🙂
Thanks for reading, Chris!
I need a little encouragement on a WIP so next week i’ll be posting from that. Sorry, but finding out what happens next in this story will cost ya. 😉
I’m really liking this.
Thanks, Jana! ❤
Why am I thinking they’re going to get in trouble in Chinatown? Maybe the snipe hunt would be safer… 🙂
