Guest Author: Rob Colton!

Happy Monday, everyone!

If you’re looking for my post on the Back to School Blog Hop click here–but if you have a minute to read on first you won’t be disappointed.

Today i’m trading spaces with Rob Colton and he’s brought a couple of sexy cowboys to get your week started right (my post is here). Believe me when i say that this excerpt, hot though it is, is just a tease. I got to read a little farther and all i’m going to say is you may not want to read this story in the lunch room at work.

You’ve been warned.

Thanks for having me today, Charley!

Hi everyone, this is Rob Colton. I’m here to talk about my new release, The Ranch Foreman. Before we get to our racy excerpt, I wanted to talk a little about my experiences when I first started writing.

When I initially started writing, it was something I kept a secret, even from my partner. Not that there’s anything wrong with writing romance, of course! It was the racy, erotic parts of the stories that gave me pause. It was fine when I was an anonymous nobody on the internet with a dorky screen name. The thought of exposing my innermost sexual fantasies to people I know in real life—people I have to look in the eye—was traumatizing to say the least. I was convinced they’d look at me and think “pervert.”

As my stories grew in popularity, I confessed my secret to my partner. He’s read some of my stuff, but he’s not a big reader, so he doesn’t read everything. He supports me and is proud of me, same as ever. When I got the contract for my book, he was just as excited as I am.

With the release of my first published book, The Ranch Foreman, the cat is now out of the bag. All of my friends know and they support me and are proud of me as well. Hopefully they will even buy it if they haven’t already!

Sexy cowboys and happy endings. What’s not to love?

The Ranch Foreman, by Rob Colton

When Madison “Matty” Ward finds himself out of work and without a place to live, his cousin comes through with a job on the Gates cattle ranch. Despite not knowing anything about herding cattle or taking care of horses, Matty does his best to impress the older hunky foreman, Baxter Hollingsworth. Baxter is drawn to the new young hand, but he’s deeply closeted, and after an openly gay veterinarian shows he’s interested in Matty, Baxter’s repressed feelings lead to an explosive encounter. Baxter then withdraws—leaving Matty feeling angry and used—until an accident forces him to confront his fears.

Excerpt:

Once they were back on the road for home, Baxter pulled out the stub of a cigar. He lit up without even asking Matty if it was okay. Sure, it was Baxter’s truck, and he looked hot as fuck puffing on the stogie, but still….

Matty sat back in his seat and didn’t bother trying to talk to Baxter. He tipped his hat down over his eyes and decided to take a nap.

When the truck came to a stop, Matty sat up and tapped his hat back, surprised he had slept so soundly the entire way. As he looked around, he realized they had stopped at a highway rest area. They weren’t home yet. The sun had long since set, and the parking lot and sidewalks were lit with old lampposts.

“Wait here,” Baxter grunted.

Matty watched Baxter step out of the truck and walk up to a small, nondescript building. Man, his muscled ass looked good in those tight Wranglers.

The rest area was quiet except for the rumbling engines of a couple of semitrucks on the other side of the lot.

After a couple of minutes, curiosity got the better of Matty. He got out of the truck, dropped his hat on the seat, and shut the door, then walked up to the building. The men’s room door creaked loudly as he went inside. Matty cringed as the heels of his cowboy boots echoed on the dingy vinyl floor. The middle of three stalls was occupied, and Matty took the farthest stall, latching the door closed behind him.

He held his breath, trying to keep himself from panting. He should have stayed in the truck like Baxter had told him. After wiping down the seat with some toilet tissue, he sat down with his pants still buttoned up.

Closing his eyes, he tapped his fingers on his knees for a few seconds until he couldn’t stand it anymore. He bent over slightly and looked under the stall partition at Baxter’s booted feet. It was definitely Baxter. He recognized the boots. The man’s jeans and boxer shorts were pushed down around his ankles. The big buckle weighed down his leather belt, making the end flop onto the floor.

Matty resisted the urge to lean even more and peek between the man’s legs. The under-stall clearance was plenty large enough that if he just leaned over a little farther and looked up, he would be able to see Baxter’s dick….

He should pretend to pee, then get the hell out of there. As he was about to do just that, the toe of Baxter’s boot tapped. Was that a sign? Nah, it was just his overactive imagination. But what if it wasn’t….

Matty’s heart began to race, and without thinking, he discreetly tapped his own toe back. The other boot slid closer to the partition and tapped again. Matty did likewise and slid his boot next to Baxter’s.

Surely Baxter knew it was Matty in the next stall. Did he do this all the time? Is this how he satisfied his closeted urges? Anonymous restroom sex?

Baxter’s boot pulled back, and he stood up, making his belt buckle clang and scrape against the floor.

Shit! He was caught. It was a trick. Baxter was going to kick his ass for sure. Matty’s stomach started to churn. He needed to get the hell out of there and quick.

Then Baxter turned and squatted down, and Matty’s heart stopped.
