I love this time of year! I love all the winter holidays, even the ones I don’t usually participate in. Holidays give everyone a chance to be a kid again. Some of my favorite Christmas memories are of books and movies and those great TV specials by Hanna Barbera, Rankin Bass and of course the incomparable Dr. Seuss. When I was growing up we had to wait for them to show on TV, and believe me the world could’ve crashed down around me when one of those was on and I would not have noticed.
One of my favorites was always “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”. Even as a kid I loved a little darkness and a lot of tension on the way to Happily Ever After. The Grinch has just about everything I could ask for in a story: a charismatic anti-hero and his pure-hearted sidekick who always saw the good in him, fabulous songs, fun with words, and the drama!
Boris Karloff’s narration is like the cherry on top and deserves a paragraph of its own at the very least. Whoever had the idea to ask him to do it was a genius.
Now we can watch any Christmas special as many times as we like—even in the middle of summer. I still watch The Grinch at least once every year (in fact, as I write this I’m watching it for the second time, on DailyMotion.com!). It’s important to remember the joy of being a child; their ability to completely give themselves over to their emotions comes from the same place that adults have to release before they can fall in love. I think this is one reason I love the holidays so much, they let my inner child out to play.
When you leave your comment, answer this question: Boris Karloff narrated The Grinch, true or false?
Don’t forget to hop back to Tabby’s Nocturnal Nights and on to the next stop on the Secret Santa Blog Hop!
Thanks for visiting my blog! I hope you’ll come back again, and look for my M/M Erotic Holiday Romance, Comfort and Joy, available now from Etopia Press!
Comfort and Joy by Charley Descoteaux
How much love does it take to heal the wounds of hate?
Sam and Charlie have been together over a decade, and their commitment to each other has only grown stronger through the years. But love isn’t always easy, and eighteen months after a violent assault, their fairy-tale relationship is still struggling. Charlie can’t shake the lingering fear of attracting more violence by displaying affection, and he’s angry at himself for not getting past it. Sam would do anything to help Charlie feel better—if only he knew what that was.
The century-old farmhouse in Northwest Oregon is the perfect place to spend the holidays with Sam’s family, but it was their refuge after the attack, and it still holds painful memories of those difficult first months. Christmas should be a joyful time, but even being surrounded by people who love him isn’t enough to make Charlie feel safe. He could try to keep to himself, but even if Sam agreed to give him the space he needs, Sam’s warm and loving family might not. And even though they agreed not to exchange gifts, Sam has a surprise up his sleeve that he hopes will make everything merry and bright. But he may end up more surprised than Charlie before the week is out…
Nice post too as always Charley.. Now I feel festive

Also, One of my favorite Christmas Romance Books is The Untamable Rogue by Annette Blair! The story is about Ashford Blackburne Fifth Earl and he has to get married and get his willing bride pregnant before Christmas or his grandfather won’t let him inherit his money. Ash truly needs to inherit the money because his late father squandered it all away and he is taking care of his mother. After getting stood up at the alter, again, Ash and his friends go to the local pub where the owner plays a drunken Ash in a card game…his consolation prize is the pubs daughter Larkin, who he wants to get ride of. Ash has to learn to forgive…Larkin has to learn how to trust…can two completely different people find love together. This is a cute, extremely funny, romantic story with a surprise Christmas ending!
